Will the theme song for the new season of Fox's "The X Factor"be Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time?"
It might be, judging from what Simon Cowell said about Spears joining the singing competitiion series along with Demi Lovato.
"She's quite mean," Cowell said of Spears during a TCA session for the series. He also teased Lovato about her bluntness toward him and the contestants, calling Lovato "a brat." Still, he praised both singers for bringing what he called youthful energy and honesty to the series.
American Idol': Mariah Carey announced as newest judge
"American Idol" has announced one new judge for Season 12 -- recording artist Mariah Carey. Fox Broadcasting Company President of Entertainment Kevin Reily made the big announcement at the Television Critics Association press panel on Monday (July 23).
"We do in fact have one judge whose deal closed very, very recently. I think it's the biggest recording artist that any of these shows have ever had," says Reilly. "It's an artist that many contestants have tried to emulate, have tried to have sung the songs, have tried to have hit the notes and because it really was concluded only hours ago, our new judge cannot be with us."
Reilly then called Mariah Carey on the phone, who said hello to all the TCA members.
"I am so excited to be joining 'Idol,' I wanted to be there today and I wish I could've been there myself to tell you. But I think you know this all kind of just happened really quickly," says Carey. "Everybody have a great TCA and I will see you in January."
Carey also adds via a press release, "As a singer, songwriter and producer, it's going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back with 'American Idol.' ... I can't wait to channel my creative energy as a part of this show which is a massive global phenomenon."
While Reilly cannot confirm any other judges, even judge Randy Jackson's return, he does say that Jackson helped cement the Mariah Carey signing, as the two have worked together for years in the recording studio.
"Randy was very instrumental in doing this deal," says Reilly.
UPDATE: In case you're curious about her payday, TMZ is claiming "Idol" sources say Mariah's one-year deal on the show is nabbing her $18 million, which leaves Britney's "X Factor" deal at $15 million and J.Lo's first-year $12 million "Idol" deal in the dust.

The 23-year-old rapper released a remixed version of Chief Keef's track "I Don't Like" on Saturday through Djorator.com. Brown is joined by the Game in the new track and takes aim at Drake, 25, by attacking his courage.
Although he doesn't mention the "Take Care" rapper by name, Brown raps about their June 14 brawl that left five people injured. "'They throwin' bottles, I'm throwin' models," he says in one verse. And he challenges him to another fight, rapping, "This head up, my bread up, one on one, what you scared, bruh? Matter fact, take care bruh…"
Drake's rep shared his take on nasty fight, telling Us Weekly, "Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property."
And an eyewitness at the nightclub told Us, "It was entourage versus entourage, never Drake versus Chris...It was lot of pushing and shoving. People were picking up ice buckets in case they had to throw it. They tore the club apart. It was bad. People went to the hospital!"
They already like to wear coordinating outfits, and now thatKim Kardashian & Kanye West were spotted leaving alaser hair removal clinic together, it sounds like they'll complement each other with their smooth skin too.
Kim & Kanye showed up in her black Rolls-Royce to have their treatments done, though it's not clear what areas of their body they were looking to make permanently hair free. But considering the fact that Kanye's mustache is still visible, I'm guessing they aren't concerned about unwanted facial hair. Their treatments must be concentrating on other (ahem) areas.
